In February of 2007, Komen for the Cure honored Bosom Buddies, Friends for Life as the group to receive the Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2006. The award is given annually by the national Susan G. Komen office to one local organization chosen among those nominated by all Komen affiliate offices. Lyn Castellano was flown to the 2007 Komen Affiliate Conference in Dallas, Texas as a Bosom Buddies representative. After accepting the award on behalf of the team, Lyn gave a speech recognizing the importance of each member of Bosom Buddies. This prestigious recognition is a tribute to the great team that has been built over the years. |

Joe Castellano ran six different groups in a 26-year career at Anheuser-Busch, the $18 billion international beer, packaging and entertainment company: information technology, human resources, retail and local marketing, wholesale distribution operations, PR/communications, and sports marketing. During his last four years, he served on the 17-member Strategy Committee, the senior management group that led the company. He left Anheuser-Busch in December of 2008, after the company was acquired by InBev, and now serves as a business and personal development advisor. |
A graduate of Northwestern University, Joe started his career at The St. Louis Globe-Democrat, where he was an award-winning sportswriter, and also worked at Fleishman-Hillard, the international public relations firm, before joining Anheuser-Busch. He is married to Lyn Castellano, who founded Bosom Buddies, Friends for Life, a benefactor for Susan G. Komen for the Cure St. Louis that has raised $450,000 for the fight against breast cancer since its 1995 inception. They have two children, Alison and Adam, who are students. |
